Psychological features of education today’s children
Modern children are called in different ways and all definitions are grounded.
For example: “Children of the new Millennium” – young beings with unusual psychic abilities; “Children of Light”- the world of children is different from the usual; “Gifted Children”- the level of development is above average (not to be confused with school assessments); in France unusual children, the current generation is called the “Teflon Children”, because to them do not adhere to the generally accepted stereotypes of behaviour; in America – “Indigo Children”. The last definition is becoming popular in our country. A lot of attempts to define the modern children, although the official term does not exist.
All children are born innocent and kind, every child is special. Professor, doctor of pedagogical Sciences N.In.Kuzmin (2002) believes that “a Healthy child is born with a lot of creative potential. In the process of family education, the learning potentials are not only implemented, but often are blocked or cambiocorsa under the influence of fear.” Children are born, each with its purpose. So the seed of an Apple tree will turn into an Apple tree, not orange and not in a pear tree.
The main task of adults is to help children grow, to reveal a natural talent. I.e. how to raise the tree, surrounding love, to fertilize, to water, to pass on their knowledge and experience and keep them as a treasure. Modern education is facing a crisis of education. Every day the media show examples of juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, early pregnancy and suicide.
Opinion modern parents, why difficult children more:
1.Negative changes in the society (advertising, violence on TV);
2.The permissiveness of feelings of guilt towards children that little time is given to the education;
3.Case in outdated methods of education in the kindergarten, school, etc.
The problem of children starts at home and can be there and resolved, parents should understand that only depends on what will grow their children.
Changing the world is changing and children. Old methods of education, such as bullying, cry or slap not help to establish control over contemporary children and kill a child’s desire to obey and cooperate, encourage today’s children to rebel and most importantly old methods of education emotional obstruct the channel of interaction and communication with adults. Close adults become the problem of today’s children, as to prevent them from developing.
Intimidation restricts the natural development of the child. The screaming child dulls his ability to hear. Children listen to parents or teachers when adults listen to them. If adults constantly that either require the child, the children will not hear, the child is “disabled”, as if to music at full volume, then eventually it will be impossible to make out the words of the song, the same happens with children, and at this time an adult loses control.
In working with today’s children need to abandon punishment. Modern child learns everything through imitation and not fear. So the kids are always programmed in imitation of their parents and loved ones of adults. Brain children books pictures and then repeats what he saw. So if a child sees around respect, he has to learn to respect. If a child sees violence, or produce it on him, he will do the same with others. Violence teaches the child in a confusing, complicated situation for him violence to achieve their goal. Children exposed to violence, or hate yourself or the world around: the boys become hyperactive, suffering from lack of attention; girls self-destructive tendencies, low appetite, low self-esteem.
New means of education: collaboration, motivation, control. Today’s children need help, but for growth and no less necessary and the difficulties, the problems of which it is impossible to protect, but you must help us overcome them.
According to John gray:
1.The child does not learn to forgive, if he can forgive a certain.
2.The child will not develop the patience or ability to wait for the realization of their desires, if always right to give him all he wants.
3.The child will not learn to accept their flaws, if everything was perfect.
4.The child learns to cooperate, if everything always goes the way you want it.
5.The child will not develop creative talent, if it will do all others.
6.The child does not learn empathy and respect, if he doesn’t see that others are experiencing the pain and suffering a setback.
7.The child will not develop the courage and optimism, if he doesn’t have to deal face to face with adversity.
8.The child will not develop the persistence and strength, if everything is easy.
9.The child will not learn to correct their mistakes, if he is ignorant of the difficulties, setbacks and failures.
10.The child will develop self-esteem and healthy pride, if not to overcome obstacles and achieve something for myself.
11.The child will not develop the sense of self-worth, if he doesn’t know the feeling of isolation and rejection.
12.The child will not develop the commitment, if he has no opportunity to resist authority and to achieve the desired.
Difficulties help the child to become stronger. Example: the butterfly has to make a tremendous effort to break out of the cocoon. If, in an effort to help her to cut the cocoon, it will die, because she won’t develop certain muscle groups, and it will not be able to fly, to soar.
When children misbehave, they don’t want to obey the will and desires of adults. To regain control over the child he should be given a time-out, time to think (4 years – 4 minutes, 15 years – 15 minutes). This short-term restriction of freedom, after which the child returns the desire and basic installation, which was originally laid in the child – to give to parents, adults joy.
Childhood experiences have a huge impact on the further development of the human psyche. Any feeling experienced by a child or projected outward, or inward. Old methods of education based on fear awaken in modern children a penchant for destruction. For the violence children are taking revenge for academic underachievement; enslaved children taking revenge braking (mental retardation, autism), they inhibit all around, block, freeze is the reaction of slaves and prisoners. Children need to feel that adults are strong, experienced, patient, and ready at any moment to come to their aid.
Ross Campbell writes that children can be compared to a mirror. They reflect the love, but do not begin to love the first (up to 10 years) if to bestow their love, they return. If nothing is given to them, and they have nothing to return. The unconditional love that is reflected of course, and is due and refundable depending on various conditions. Parents, adults need to Express and discuss their feelings genuinely, thereby they will teach children calm demeanour and identifying their emotional States and feelings.
Alexander Shargunov writes primarily about the responsibility of parents for the upbringing of children: “God punishes the children for the neglect of parents in their education, and parents for the crimes of their children”…
